Outlaws Steal First Game From Defending Champions

The Joplin Outlaws took game 1 of the 2022 MINK League Championship series 7-3 in Joplin on Thursday night. The South Division champions finally got to St. Joe Mustangs starter Braden Berry plating four runs in the third inning, three earned.

The big hit to start off the scoring was by Cade Bressler who singled with the bases loaded scoring two on the play. That was followed up by a Max Bruff two-RBI single to make it 4-0. The Outlaws picked up three more runs in the fifth inning making the deficit 7-0 thanks to two RBI's driven in by Cade Lott. The Outlaws stood behind strong starting pitching by Ethan Salley and Cole White. Salley worked four innings not allowing a hit and got the win.

The two-time defending champions finally hit the scoreboard in the eighth loading the bases plating three off of a series of walks.

The series now shifts up 49 Highway to I-29 up to the home of the North Division Champions St. Joe where the Mustangs will hold court having to win the next two at home.
