MINK Pitcher of the Month-June 2023-Antonio Escano

The MINK League announced on Sunday that Antonio Escano was named their Pitcher of the Month for June, 2023. Escano has been a standout performer for the Sedalia Bombers this season leading the league with 36 strikeouts, going 3-0 in nine games for the Bombers. A hard-throwing right-hander out of Cenapec in Santo Domingo, Escano has found a comfortable home back in his third year with the Bombers.

Escano, a product of State Fair Community College and, most recently, a junior at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, comes in with a cool 2.00 ERA so far this year. Escano is no stranger to putting up big numbers with the Bombers as he pitched a no-hitter for Sedalia back in 2021.

“It’s been a bumpy ride with wins and losses, but at the end of the day, it’s just fun to go out there and compete with the guys I’m competing with,” Escano said prior to their July game with Clarinda. “We have a good coaching staff and I just enjoy playing with the guys every day.”

The Bombers will need that arm as they battle a very tough South Division for a MINK Title this season. Next season, Escano is currently in the transfer portal but he has plenty of baseball left this summer.
